MEDIN Modular MM

The implant is determined for knee joint replacement. It is particularly used for osteoarthritis, also kneejoint destructions arising from inflammatory rheumatic illnesses and other systemic illnesses. The implant can also be a solution for some knee injuries and posttraumatic states. There are variants for primary, revision and stabilized replacements.

Femoral component MM is designed as an asymmetrical one – left and right, it is manufactured of the alloy CoCrMo (ISO 5832-4). In the case of primary implantation (MM) can be used cemented and cementless femoral component variant, for the stabilized (MMS) and revision (MMR) variant is used the cementless system. Alternatively, femoral component can be supplemented with distal or dorsal inserts as a solution of local bone defects. Femoral component MM is supplied in four sizes for each side.

Tibial component is modular. In the case of primary implantation it can be used with or without cement (depending on the type of anchoring part). In case of stabilized or revision variants it is used with bone cement.

Tibial component consists of anchoring part with stem and UHMWPE tibial insert. Asymmetrical anchoring part of tibial component respects different shapes of medial and lateral condyle of tibia. Middle excisions provide space for eventual preservation of lig. cruciatum posterius. Stabilization is ensured by a couple of antirotary ribs, short stem and two openenings for supplementary utilization of bone screws fixating eventual bone allograft or screws fixating optional tibial augmentation.

Central stem, in its standard design, is closed with a screw plug. When this screw plug is taken away, the stability of tibial plate can be improved by cementless tibial stem prolonged. Bone defects can be filled with block or wedge augmentations that are fixed with screws in the openings of the plate. Anchoring part of the plate and the modules are made of titanium alloy Ti6Al4V ELI (ISO 5832-3). The anchoring part is supplied in four sizes.

Tibial component for primary replacement is side universal. It needs only turn around the vertical axis. Tibial component for stabilized and revision replacement is manufactured in right or left variants.

Tibial insert is made of UHMWPE material (ISO 5834-2) in right and left version, in intersizes. Tibial insert is supplied in four sizes and four thicknesses (8, 11, 14 and 17 mm). Thicker tibial inserts are supplied on special request.
