Oval acetabulum is mainly indicated for larger cavity and segment defects of a bone bed. Oval socket shape enables optimal preservation of bone tissue and motion of contact spherical surface to original position when using eccentric insert.
Acetabular component MOM modular has anchoring part of the acetabulum provided with three dovetail grooves in proximal and distal curve. The grooves enable using of additional modules to increase primary fixation or to reconstruct acetabulum. It concerns 6 types of proximal modules, a distal module and a distal thorn that is applied through openings in coat of the anchoring part.
The anchoring part also has openings for additional fixation with bone screws. Insert of acetabulum is made of low-pressure high-molecular polyethylene (UHMWPE). In the metal part it is anchored by two opposite locks placed in lengthwise axes of the socket. The acetabular komponent is supplied in 6 sizes of ellipse 12 mm and in 6 sizes of ellipse 6mm. The acetabular inserts are offset (7°) they can fit with hipballs of 28 or 32 mm diameter, the 12 mm ellipse besides with eccentric contact surface +6 mm.
