The implant is part of primary hip joint replacement system applied without bone cement. It is also indicated for serious arthropathy arising from rheumatic arthritis or osteoarthritis when conservative treatment is no more effective. The same indication is also valid for difficult posttraumatic states and some systemic illnesses.
Acetabular component MS and MSO has a spherical shape and consists of a metal anchoring part and a polyethylene contact insert. The anchoring part of the acetabulum is made of titanium alloy Ti6AI4V (ISO 5832-3), its surface is porous and the same material; sprayed with hydroxyapatite. The anchoring part of the acetabulum MEDIN SPHERICAL has 11 holes and MEDIN SPHERICAL OPTIMAL has 3 holes for alternative, additional fixation with bone screws. Insert of acetabulum is made of high-molecular polyethylene (UHMWPE). The acetabular component is supplied in 8 sizes with UHMWPE inserts for hip-balls with 28, 32 a 36 mm in diameter. There are also inserts with offset 7° at the disposal.
