Tendon temporal replacement silicone has a cylindrical shape with a smooth surface. The replacements are supplied in diameters 3, 4, 5, and 6mm, in lengths 120 and 180 mm, on special request 220 mm.
Tendon temporal replacements are made of Nusil silicone, marked as MED 4550. This material is determined for long-term implantation inside of human being organism; it can be longer than 30 days. It keeps its mechanical properties for the whole time of implantation. The producer supplies tendon temporal replacements non-sterile and this is clearly indicated on the packing. Sterilisation or eventual resterilisation can be done by common accessible methods e.g. steam sterilisation or dry-heat sterilisation etc. The number of sterilisation cycles is not restricted. Indications:
The implant is determined for tendon temporal replacement of hand flexor if respecting following conditions:
- passively full extent of motion in MCP and PIP joint
- high-quality skin covering and physiologically well perfused finger
- it is not possible to perform suture of flexor directly or reconstruct flexor by other one-phased procedure (transposition of flexor, tendon graft)
